6x284 and 70 gr Sierra Blitztking

I have a 1in 10 twist HartBBL 26" Any load suggestions for the 70 gr Sierra?It shoots 87gr V-maxs pretty well H4350 53.5.Produces 3,640 with under 1/2 MOA. Caliber is 6x284

I started this thread. Here I am 3 years later. Late breaking news. Just walked the door from the range experimenting with Re#17 and 87gr V-Max. 53.6grs( No pressure signs) pushed the V-Max to 3700 FPS with no pressure signs as where 53.5grs of H4350 proved to be to hot showing excessive pressure signs. Plus I think my BBL prefers Nosler BT over any other bullet. So next I'll try 90 gr Nosler BTs. So thumbs up for Re#17

Wow IW that sounds like some super speed from the Rel-17
I used to shoot the 87V-Max from a 11.5 twist 6mmAI
and it stabilized great even shot the 90Berger fine, the 95Berger would'nt work in my rifle though.The 87 V-Max is
a fine varmint bullet with a b.c. of .400 in your rig at 3700fps
I would say you have found the ultimate rockchuck/coyote whacker! 8)

I have been working on getting my 6x284 set up for the groundhog killing fields. I have a 6x284 built on a M700 short action with a K&P 30.5" barrel. I have been working almost exclusively with RL-22 in this rifle and the 87g VMAX. I am currently using 53.2g of RL-22 and the 87g VMAX in FF'd Lapua brass. I am getting 3592 fps with about a 5 fps spread on average.

I have about 5 lbs of RL-17 laying around and it seems that the RL-17 would be a great fit for the 6x284. Until I read your post, i have not seen ANY data with the 6x284 and RL-17. I am glad to find someone who shares a similar dilemma.

I have tried 48.3g of RL-17 and the 87g VMAX. I got the load from quickload and i could tell it seemed to be low end. I do not have velocity figures for that load however. It did shoot pretty well. I was wondering if you could give me any load data for the 87g VMAX and the RL-17. I am anxious to see what I can get from my 30.5" barrel. Did 53.6 seem hot in your rifle? Any pressure signs? Are you seating bullets into the lands? I appreciate your help.
