6x22-250 Help Please

Just got a really nice 6x22-250. RW Hart & Son action, Hart barrel 1 in 14 twist, sits in a laminated thumb hole stock. Anyone shoot this combination? Really need help with load data. Info with rifle was 68 gr Bergers and 37 gr H 380. I only got 3140fps disappointing some what. Wish it was 8 twist so nothing $500 won't fix, but for now I'd like shoot what I've got. Any suggestions? Thanks Big Greg

The Hodgdon web site has 6mm-250 loads for a 70 grain bullet using seven different powders.

How long is the barrel? Measure the throat length?

I shot one a lot, I used a powder called WC844 with 60 and 65g bullets, accuracy was great, velocity was 3700+ on the 60's and 3550-3600 on the 65's, my barrel was 27" long, 1-12 twist, reamer cut with zero freebore.

contact me if you need further help

Later on I went with the 6/250 AI, just for grins and giggles, which ended up being a kiss'en cousin to the 243 AI if you used a 10" drop tube and crammed it full of win 760 with the 70g bullets.

Thanks, JohnHenry, ackleyman II, and expiper.
Barrel is 27" and 14 twist, not sure what free bore is. Just loaded some 68 Berger with a stout load of varget hope to try soon.
Thanks to all, help is sincerely appreciated. Thanks

Just to update, got to test the Varget load, it was very good. I check for speed and zero, speed was 3400+ and just shot a hole at 100 yds. pressure signs are nonexistent. Moved to 600 yds. on steel good results in heavy wind, head shots on deer size targets. More testing is required!!
Varget I like

Testing with H335 and 55 gr. Sierra'. Lightning fast, 4000+ but accuracy lacking a bit. Think free bore is probably too much in my chamber, can't touch lands. More testing to come.

sierra's accuracy load for the 55gr is with 3031 33.5gr for the 6mm International, a very similar round.

you may find 3031 or 4064 work better than h335

Both of mine were a little fussier to make shoot than I'm used to. One barrel is 28", the other 25", one is 14" twist the other is 12twist. Both done with the same tight no-freebore reamer. Brass is 250Savage necked down and 22-250 necked up. They both shoot well with 55-70gr bullets. Working load in the long barrel is W760.......65's @3690. Load in the other is WC844 and 55's @ 3800+. It's a good accurate cartridge but doing it again I'd probably go with 6-250AI instead for a significant boost in velocity.

I shoot the 6mm-250AI. I use H414. 65gr. Shilen @ 3400fps. Shoots great at that velocity so I did not go any faster. .09 - .1 three shot group. Prairie dogs don't know the difference between 3400 and 3700 fps. anyway.
