6SLR loads with IMR7828

Anyone using this combo, if so around what charge for 105-108g bullets.

Mine is shooting well with H4831, but just curious and wanting to try 7828.

Thanks!

I hate to provide an exact number since primers, case capacity, barrel length, bullet coatings, etc can make a lot of difference. But I could hit 3200 MV fairly easily with coated 105 Hybrids in a 28" barrel. The charge was a little under 45 grains with a non-magnum primer. PLEASE WORK UP.

Yes I agree with Nomad on this question. I'll tell you one thing though my load with either bullet and IMR 7828 saw some very nice gains in velocity over H4831 and as good or better accuracy as well !
Nomads info is right there in the ball park so to say but then I'm shooting a 30" Bartlein 5R barrel 1:7.75 twist on a Savage action. Play with your seating depth and I think you'll like your results with the IMR 7828.

I built a 6 SLR on a bighorn action and I was running a 27" barrel and shooting the 105 hybrids. I Hate shooting without my surpressor so I cut the barrel down to 22'. I was shooting H4350 and before I got 3200 fps. I went and shot the same load with the surpressor tonight and the velocity was 3050fps. I was hoping someone else has cut there barrel, and had tried some other powders to get the velocity back up to the 3150fps range. Trying to build this gun for a Precision rifle match.
Thanks

I am getting 3170 with a 24" Benchmark barrel using 43.8 gr Rl17 and 107gr SMKs. H100V also got me around 3100 with around 41.5gr.

I've done some work ups with 7828ssc and seem to have a node around 3160ish. Groups are consistent but not small(1/2-3/4min). Now I need to work on seating depth....definely doesn't seem to use the same depth as my go to 4831 load.

As long as we're talking 7828...I'm almost out of H1000 and 7828ssc has a similar burn rate. Anybody have a starting load for 7828ssc with 115's & the 6SLR. I gotta start loading for GKF on the 24th and haven't found another source for H1000. Many thanks, Eric in DL

I'm running 44.6 grains in my 6SLR, but that is with hBN coated 105's hitting 3170 MV, so obviously you would want to start well below that.

All depends on the bullet and barrel. For me the dtacs like a 8 thou. jam while 107smk's like to be jumped 15 thou. 105 Hybrids of which I haven't had much luck with but have found a "node" of jumping 29 thou. or 25 thou. jam. Lots of variables....Eric in DL

I just got back from doing some 400 yd tests trying different seating depths. My slr only makes around 3130ish with that load. The 7828 does a great job, especially if you want the velocity, but i think in my rifle the 4831 wins out in accuracy, by a tiny margin, however its almost 100fps slower. I sure do like the 7828 in the wind.

Ive been wanting to test dtacs with the 7828.....too many curiousities and not enough barrel.
