6PPC USA body die

I ordered a 6PPC Body die redding #75319 from Sinclair international. When i received the die, the box says 6PPC USA and that is also stamped on the die. My rifle is a 6PPC Stolle Panda BR rifle. When i ordered the die their website makes no mention of 6PPC "USA". Have they made a mistake in describing the die on the website? Is this a different die to the one im after? Im after a body die to bump shoulder back when needed.

The 6 ppc USA is for factory chambered Sako's. You really need to send Harrell's Precision 3 fired cases from the rifle so they can match one of their stock dies to your chamber. You REALLY want a Full length die and use it every time. Someone is giving you very bad advice. Make sure you know what neck size the chamber will accept and order the appropriate Wilson neck bushings. Let us know if you need help to determine bushing sizes.

Thanks for your reply and your offer of help LHSmith. The paperwork needed for me to send brass to the states from Australia is ridiculous. I have a F/L die but don't use it every time. I just wanted a body die to bump the shoulder back a thou or two. I use a wilson neck die for sizing. Looks like i have to send the body die back.

You may as well try the die and see if it is capable of bumping the shoulder back. I have a .268 neck PPC cut with a Billy Stevens reamer and happen to use a 6PPC USA body die to hit the neck shoulder junction of a 220 Russian to make the first firing easier on the bolt handle. Seems to work OK and after that I just use the Harrels die as mentioned above. Edited to add, that's after expanded to 6mm.

If all you want is shoulder bump, any ppc bump die should do the that, maybe with or without taking some material either from the bottom of the die or from the top of the shell holder. So the Redding die may work fine.

The issue according to how I read your post is that die is intended to work the body and the shoulder..just nothing to the neck. So based on what you stated, it may well be the wrong die but not because it's the USA die. Any die that works the body is contingent on the chamber dimensions to give ideal sizing...not too much and not too little, but just right. Without knowing the chamber dimensions, there's no way to know if the die will work well with your chamber or not. I wouldn't send it back until you give it a try. I'd say there's a pretty good chance that it'll size the case for you but you just have to try it and then take some very accurate(mic, not caliper)measurements to see how much sizing it will do on your fired brass. It's best to have 2-4 firing on it when you take those measurements but you can tell a lot with one good firing of a stiff but not too hot load. All that said, a redding Type S full bushing die does exactly what your die does but also sizes the neck per the bushing used, in one step.

I'd give it a try before going through the hassle of returning it from over seas. It may work fine. But, I would consider a bushing die like I mentioned rather than making more work of it with the die you have plus another to size the neck...fwiw. I "think" the type s full bushing die has the same body dimensions as what you've got so at least you'll know that much, whether you order a bushing die or not.

This is my bump die for my Billy Stevens chambered 6ppc 262 nk on my Scovile Bat BR rifle, as well as his .268" nk reamer, and Dwight Scotts. All with great results coupled with the right bushing in my wilson nk die.

Yes I have went thru the cost and hassle of the custom dies from Harrels, JLC, and others, but the Reding 6ppc USA body die has doen the same job, I simply add the Wilson neck die with a .257" Carbide bushing from PMA to size my neck, and my accuracy and ease of loading a loaded round has not changed.

If you check before and after, you will find about .0015" to .002" bump at body and shoulder. Once you work your load up, your golden, and brass life is phenomenal, working it no more than the customs do. same results as a single custom die, but less expensive.

I step on my loads pretty heavy, depending on conditions up to 30.4 grains of 133, I don't see any reason not to recamend using it for just case body sizing, with the Wilson nk die and appropriate bushing. I also use this combination to size my Sako factory 6ppc.
