6ppc short advice

I'm planning on building a 6ppc and am considering doing a short chamber on it. I don't want to use form dies, and I only will bother with a short ppc if I can push the shoulder back enough to make a noticeable difference.

I was wondering if anyone knows how far you can push the shoulder back (starting with 220 russian) using a shortened 6ppc die.

I dont have experience with your question
I have thought onn the 6beggs a few times
But I'm to heavily into what I've got to change

A ppc already cant hold enough powder- thats why joe asked why. A short 6ppc will be a hair losing experience. But to answer your question a case forming die can push the shoulder all the way to the base- its all in how far you want to go.

Thanks for the info Dusty. What do you mean by the ppc doesn't have enough powder already? Most people seem to think it shoots pretty straight.

Everybody that regularly wins has to drop their powder very slow with a long drop tube and seat their bullet long just to almost get as much powder in there as they would like. With lt32 on the scene shooting the same speed with 1gr less powder got it closer but a ppc case needs about 1-2more gr capacity to shoot its best. Some days if its hot you can get there- most days not. If you shorten it youre guaranteed to never reach nirvana with a ppc.

I have several boxes of factory Sako 6 mm PPC USA 70 grain hollow point boattail ammo for sale, Any idea of their value and where to sale them?

Don't sell the Beggs short. I have fared quite well with one in the VFS score game (100 Yd). This is against mostly 30 BR's in a typical field of 25 shooters.
I did especially well after my LCS came back from repair. Again.

A 6 Beggs is on the raggedy edge with 27.5gr of LT 32 with a 68gr bullet. On a good day I have beaten a field of PPCs and 30 BRs with it. So, if you want performance with less powder that might be a good place to start. No special cases forming is needed.

Just realised this is an old thread. I would put them in the classifieds here if you are certain they are factory. In todays market I would begin at $40/box. If it don't sell. lower it.
