6PPC neck size

Getting a PPC set up. Is there any advantage to having the barrel chambered to a .262 neck vrs a .267 neck?
Thanks for the input.

IMHO, there is little actual need to turn the necks down to fit a .262 neck. Save your self the effort by using .267 or .268. I would still do a slight neck turn to help mitigate the donut.

I just opened my 6 PPC neck from .262" to .269". It takes just a light neck turning for my new Lapua brass. I saw no difference in group sizes.

The .262 neck originated due to the quality of brass at the time. With the good Lapua 220 brass available today it only makes sense to go with the .268 neck. Many of the competitive shooters have gone to .268 or even .269. If there was an accuracy advantage to a .262 they would use it, trust me on this.

I shoot alot of matches out to 500yds. I feel that the thinner necks allows better control of neck tension. Might not be an issue for those limited to 100 and 200 yds. I shoot my 6BRXs tp 1000 and also use a .262 neck I am always wary when folks say, well it's easier this way.

Thanks a lot , guys. Really good info. I like the idea of the .268 neck. Less work, more shooting.

And way more popular these days if you need to borrow a barrel at a match plus lots better consistency on neck tension and you can get another .001 of tension over a .262nk

I never owned a 6 ppc but have a 6mm Norma BR with a 272 neck. Very accurate. Is there a reason this would not work in a PPC.
When you get to the ppc game shooting teen aggs you need to do a full cleanup of your neck. 268 will do that with any lot of current production and not turn off any more than necessary. 262 or 263 necks are very fragile when they fall off the bench and its hard to get them back right using a bushing die with no expander that most br shooters use.
