6PPC HV barrel weight

Does anyone know the weight of a 6PPC HV barrel, possibly 24"? Im looking at buying a ppc rifle which id like to shoot as a HV rifle, im not sure if its a LV or HV, i'll take my scales with me when i go to look at it, but just want to know the weight of a HV barrel itself so i can work out all my weights. I already have a LV rifle that shoots pretty darm good, so i dont want to muck with it, id rather just get a dedicated HV barreled set up. cheers. I just saw a krieger #11 straight contour barrel for sale, anyone have one of these and could answer my question as well?

I have a 24” HV contoured barrel here that comes in at 6lb 2oz.

If the gun you are looking to buy is a LV, you will have a hard time getting it to the HV limit of 13.5 pounds with a simple barrel swap. Your gun will be way out of balance and may cause you to pull your hair out trying to get it to shoot properly and consistently.

Not all is lost. A better approach than trying to do it with the barrel alone is to also put a good weight system in the butt to maintain proper gun balance and achieve your weight goal. You can also work a variable power scope into the equation to pick up some additional weight. Also, if you go the weight system route, you won't be limited in barrel blank choice. You can use a bit longer LV barrel or a shorter HV barrel and even work a tuner into the mix. Lots of options. Hope this helps..

Be aware that a straight 1.250" barrel like the Kreiger #11 doesn't comply with the rules for NBRSA or IBS H.V. guns.

Good shootin' :) -Al

Thanks JIm, some food for thought there. I do have some weights i bought from PMA some time ago. I maybe able to incorporate them into the system if need be. I still have to check the weight of the stock + action to see where its at, LV or HV and go from there.

I just now read this, and it sounds like I'm talking to myself...
What were we just talking bout?
Lol cheer brother!!

Mine is a 24" HV and it weighs 6lbs. The rifle I'm putting it on started as a LV rifle and with that barrel and a 4oz tuner, I can still put almost 2lbs in the buttstock. I will only put in it what it needs to balance it, even if it's all 2lbs.
