6ppc factory ammo, is it still made?

I was looking around all over trying to find if any one still makes factory ammo for the 6ppc. Does any one still offer it?

Thanks,
Dan

I was under the impression that lapua still made it and it is really pricey. Brownells has it in stock right now.

I would find that very interesting.

I searched for it several different ways and couldn't find it. Could you post a link?

The 6PPC is a wildcat, derived from necking up the 220 Russian.

What led you to believe it was offered as factory ammo? :)

That is not entirely accurate. Norma, for example, makes 6 PPC brass. At one time, Sako made 6 PPC USA brass. Different thing, but close.

dtucker,
Sako did in fact supply loaded ammo in Sako 6PPC USA for their Sako 6PPC USA rifles back in the 90's. I know this because I have one of these guns and had several boxes of ammo back then. You want to call www.berettausa.com and ask them if this ammo is available, I think it was available a few years ago but scarce.

Don't search their web site, give them a call.

Dave T is correct. When brass became unavailable for awhile in the early 90's, I bought loaded Sako 6PPC USA rounds just for the brass. I think I did use the powder and bullets for fireforming after neck turning the cases. At $22/box of 20, I babied that brass until the Lapua 220R (and Norma 6PPC) brass became available. Have not seen any new SAKO 6PPC ammo for sale for some time now.

Dan, if you don't want to bother with forming the 220R, you may consider loading the 6PPC Norma. I have a BAT DS in 6PPC with Tom Meredith for stocking with a McMillan A-5 stock and I intend to shoot the Norma brass in it just to keep separate the 220R formed brass for my bench rifles.

I have Norma brass. One word of caution...it cleans up fully around 265. If you have a 268 or 269 necked reamer for a minimum turn Lapua 220 necked up, you'll want to measure extensively and assume minimally.

I appoligize for the bad imfo but my mind is affixed on 6br trying to solve a problem and looked up 6 br ammo by mistake. There is ammo available at ridiculous prices like a 100.00 a box on places like gunbroker etc. Can you just load your own by chance ?

GSPV, thanks for the heads up on the Norma brass. My rifle came in today so I'll be working up some of the Norma brass for it soon. I had thought of going with a .266 or .269 neck diameter but decided instead to stay with the conventional .262 ND so that I can use the barrels from my BAT BR rifle as they lose their edge.

Let us know what you decide to do, Dan.

I have three boxes of Sako Facotry 6 PPC I would be willing to sell if someone is interested. I had purchsed 5 boxes and fired two. Couldn't believe how accurate these rounds shot through my Ruger MK II, five shot one hole groups at 100 yds.
