Theoretically, can a Panda or BAT action that was originally set up for 6PPC be converted to a .308?
It looks like if you open up the bolt face .032 and perhaps expand the ejection port you have it.
What am I missing or is this just a bad idea.

Yes, I had mine done. My bolt is a no eject version but works fine for BR/PPC cases. Kelbly's or a knowledgeable smith will help you out.

With respect to BAT actions; it depends on the exact model. Some Bats are equipped with a short bolt that is appropriate for PPC or BR length cases but is too short to handle .308 length cartridges.
