6mmremington to 6mm Norma Br

Does anyone know if the same dies can be used to load 6mm Remington and 6mm Norma BR other than inserts for the neck tension?

6mm Rem has a 2.233" case length with a Ø.430" shoulder @ 26°. The 6BR Norma is a 1.560" case and has a Ø.460" shoulder @ 30°. They have almost nothing in common other than case head size and bullet diameter.

+1..Won't work.

Where does the 6mmBR Remington fit into this. It is my understanding it is an earlier cartridge than the 6mm Norma BR but with a shorter throat. It is my understand everything else is the same. Is this true.

It is my understanding we can use 6mmBR Remington dies with 6mm Norma BR. Is this correct.

Steve,

The question asked was "Does anyone know if the same dies can be used to load 6mm Remington and 6mm Norma BR other than inserts for the neck tension?"

No where did the OP ask about 6mmbr Rem., which yes your understanding is correct we can use 6mmBR Remington dies with 6mm Norma BR but not 6mmRemington.

Thanks. I did not mean to bugger up this thread. This topic has had me confused for quit a while, I have figured it out now. I also asked my question just in case the OP was wading into the deep end of the pool as I had.

IF you meant "can a 6mmBR Remington die set be used to load 6mm BR Norma?" - the answer is yes. The difference between the two is that the 'Norma" version is longer throated to accept heavier (longer) bullets such as the 105's, 107's, 108's, etc., as opposed to the the "Remington" version - which typically takes bullets up to around 85 grains, more or less. You will note in the reloading manuals - they typically only show load data for the Remington version due to the potential liability of someone loading up a hot 108 grain VLD and "cramming" it into the shorter-throated Remington chamber. Bottom line, both the sizing and seating dies, such as Redding "s" bushing die sets and others will perform perfectly with either version of this caliber. I use the Redding 6mmBR Remington "s" dies to load my 6BR Norma.
