6mmPPC Neck thickness

Hi

What are peoples thoughts on neck thickness for a PPC. Minimum turn or lots of brass off the necks? Obviously I would like to turn as little as possible... but is this the most accurate? Peoples thoughts on neck thickness?

Cheers

With the excellent Lapua brass in use today, turning all that brass off of the neck is unnecessary. In the day, it was required in order to get a "clean" neck all the way around. Not so now.

There is a Texas shooter, quite sucessful too, that used a .269 neck all last year and kicked butt. If I ever needed to order a new reamer, it would befinately have a .269 or even a .270 neck.

Same is true with the Lapua BR brass. Any of the BR based cartridges can be almost a "no-turn" reamer.

I'm putting a 6PPC together with a .269 minimum turn neck. I believe for competition, specially groups shooting, turning is required, but just enough to make the neck thickness consistant. I never understood the .262 neck. Several shooter are doing great with a .269, so I decided to follow their lead.

Kory
