6mmbr trim length

hello all. have a question. what is the shortest length a 6mmbr case can be trimmed too? my shortest case is 1.546. most of the others are around 1.549. i have 36 cases that shoot super, and chamber easy. load book says trim legnth is 1.550. would i be ok trimming to 1.546? thank you.

good question!. I'm curious what some more experienced guys have to say about this.

Most benchrest guys spec their reamers for this reason (among many others)... they will then trim to the length appropriate to their reamer, not the SAAMI spec.

A LOT of people don't have that luxury because they don't the reamer specs, or they have a factory barrel with unknown specs (could always do a chamber cast to figure this stuff out too).

I do exactly what you just proposed ... measure all my brass length (base to mouth), pick the shortest case, subtract .001" (room for a clean trim and new chamfer on the shortest case), and trim ALL my brass to that length. That way every piece of brass is the same length, and has the same chamfer.

I have no idea if that's the proper way to do it, but it seems to make sense.

would love to hear what other people are doing...
