What size of Redding neck bushing works best for a 6MM BR - no turn neck? The brass is Lapua purchased recently, not the older brass. The rifle is a Dakota Predator.
If you use a .266 Bushing and do NOT turn your necks, you will have right at 2K neck tension... If you turn the high spots off the neck, you will have slightly more than 1K neck tension..
I haven't fired the rifle yet and it's my understanding that you take a fired piece of brass and adding 0.001" to that dimension. Is there another way to accurately measure the chamber?
The way the guy at Sinclair explained it to me when I first bought a bushing die, is that it has nothing to do with chamber size. Its how thick your brass is, which depends on the brand of brass, and wheather or not you turn.
He had me load a round, it could be a dummy round with virgin brass, and do what you are going to do as far as turning, and measure. You then subtract the neck tension you want. The brass forms around the bullet, not the other way around. I did this with both Lapua and Remington brass, the Lapua is thicker, so I had a larger bushing size for it.
You can call them if you have any questions.
If you had a very loose chamber, and tried to buy your bushing to it, the bullet would fall out of the case.
