6mmbr neck turning

Shaun, probably not. Assuming that your chamber has enough clearance for unturned brass,at least a 0.271' neck diameter) then you don't need to turn and the Blaser will probably not give you any increased accuracy for your efforts.

However, learning to turn necks and to do it well is a useful skill, so if its something you're interested in learning, then by all means try it and see how things go. I would simply suggest that you limit the amount turned and just go to 0.125' or 0.120' neck thickness. That's enough of a cut to clean up any minor variance in the Lapua or Norma brass and not so much as to shorten case life in a no-turn chamber.

shaun: Before that question can be answered, you need to know what your chamber neck diameter is. If it's a factory chambering, most likely it's a 'no turn' neck. At least that's what Savage, Cooper and others are doing. I would contact the maker & put the question to them. When I have a custom barrel installed, chamber neck dia. is included in the barrel ident engraving, seldom done with factory rifles I know. The other option would be a chamber cast with Cerrosafe. If you are able to measure the after firing neck dia of a case, fired in your chamber, add .001', to allow for spring back, and that will be your chamber neck dia. And agree with German, his post appeared after I posted mine): if you want to eliminate the 'high spots' and with no variation at all, nothing wrong with taking a light cut. Most of my Lapua, various cartridges like 222 Rem, 220 Russian, 223, 6BR & 308) will only vary by approx. .0007' to .001', and for my no-turn necks I leave them alone.

Thank you guys for your help in answering my question on neck
turning. My rifle is a factory chamber blaser. One more question
if you can How do you measure the right neck lenght on my lapua case for my chamber thank you

Shaun: Good question. From page 32, Sinclair 2009-A catalog: 'The differences between published trim lengths and the actual length of your chamber can be quite significant. You could be over trimming your cases by .030' or more'. I use the 'Sinclair chamber length gauges' for each of my chambers, take a length dimension, record that measurement in the rifle log book, and keep a clearence of .010'. Example: 223 Rem. chamber length is 1.770', I'll let my brass 'grow' to 1.760' Maximum. Gauges cost $6.95 each, 22 used for all 22 ctgs, 6mm for all 6mm ctgs., etc.), and are re-useable, over and over again. www.sinclairintl.com or 1-800-717-8211. Great company with all the excellent products 'Precision Shooters' need.:)
