6mmBR compared to a 6mmAR

if you go to the home page and look at 6BR you should find enough info to understand what the 6BR is.
the 6mmAR is the 6.5 grendal case necked down to 6mm.. it is basicly a long 6PPC i think like .075 longer than the 6ppc. the 6AR should be less powder capicity than the 6BR but more than the 6PPC.

hope that helps some ,or gived you some ideas where to look for more info.

Implied in your question is the appropriate use for a 6BR vs a 6AR --

The 6BR has a larger case than the 6AR. The 6BR has a case head diameter of .473", the same as for a .308, 30-06, .243, 22-250 and many more. The 6BR is commonly used in bench rest competitions and for competition shooting out to 600 or even 1,000 yards, usually in bolt-action rifles.

The 6AR case, as state above, is a necked-down 6.5 Grendel case. It was developed by Robert Whitley specifically for shooting in the AR-15, with its smaller bolt face. The case head diameter is .442", similar to the 220 Russian and 6PPC cases. the 6AR is a better fit for the AR-15 bolt and upper receiver than the larger 6BR. Some, including Mr. Whitley, have stated that the 6.5 Grendel/6AR-based cartridges are the largest that the standard AR-15 platform can comfortably handle.

In my opinion, the 6BR (and the wildcats based on the 6BR, such as 6 Dasher and 6BRX) make a lot of sense for a bolt-action competition or varmint rifle. The 6BR is amazingly accurate.

The 6AR (and similar wildcats such as the 6AR Turbo and 6RAT) make sense for AR-15-based rifles.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Thank you both for your answers. I appreciate your answers without making me feel foolish for asking. I am fascinated with the 6mm in both the AR and the BR and they are both available for the AR, as well as the 6mmBRX. I feel like a fisherman in a Bass Pro shop staring at a wall of lures. They are all so tempting in their own ways.
Thanks again

There are two different 6mm AR as one is an Ackley Improved that gives you more case capacity and is closer to the Br's performance. I shoot one being the Turbo 40 at 600 and 1,000 yrds. with good results in an AR platform rifle and it is a very reloading friendly cartridge. Robert has a very good product's with that just being one of them look at the 6mm Ar website full of information.

I'll ditto BigGame. The Turbo40º version gets all it can out of the case. Neck 'em down to 6mm, after fireforming the shoulder/neck junction is moved forward .100 and leaves a 40º shoulder and a shorter neck. Kind of in between a BR and a Dasher.

You can stuff a lot of powder in them. Single-feed the long line loads with the bullet at the lands (105VLDs, 107SMKs) and you can run 100/95gr stuff out of a magazine for Across the Course matches.

Not picky with loads, either. Good velocity with Varget/RL15/4895.
