A newby with the 6mmBR here.
Question: I mostly see suggestions to use the Lapua 6mmBR Norma brass,understandedly it is fine brass), but what of the factory Remington brass for usage? Pros and cons?
Will the Lapua brass and the Remington brass work interchangably? Or is there enough of a difference they might not?
I'd come up with a take-off Hart barrel, the previous owner had it on a Ruger #3 action, 1:12 twist, in excellent condition - 300+ rounds having been fired through it. I had it put on a Ruger #3 action, and the gunsmith had to set the barrel back. Therefore it required the chamber to be opened up. He rented a chamber reamer that had '6mmBR Remington' on it, and returned the reamer. In my recent looking about on the web/forums, it seems to me there may be enough of a difference between the Lapua and Remington brass that might cause a difference? So coming to you folks to seek comments, before I order a quantity of brass for reloading. I don't have the completed rifle back to me yet. I'm waiting for him to fire a couple of factory loaded 100 gr Remington rounds through the new chamber, to see what the throat diameter comes out as? The reamer he used was not setup for a tight chamber, seeing as how this is to be a field/varmint use rifle. A .272 throat would be nice, we'll see?
so bottom line: any problems with SAAMI spec reamers,and I realize reamers are reamers and can have differences) in using Lapua or Remington brass?
