6mm x47 Lapua Project

This is one of the projects I started last summer. Build on a spare RBLP Panda action I have laying around, a 26” Hart 1-10 chambered by Dowling, Jewel trigger, Zeiss Conquest 6-20x50mm Robertson/Speedy stock inlet and pillar bedded myself, the finished touch is an escutcheon made by Preacher,Bruce). You probably read some of my earlier posts on load development on this cartridge, I’m planning on getting to the range short after sun rise tomorrow, get her zeroed in @ 400 and off to the dog town.

Wow,

Sweet Rig. Bet she's a shooter. Try the Berger 80s along with what every you've got in mind. Plus Send me an email--I've got a not-for-public release secret to share about a NEW bullet--just in time for your trip...

Hint: it's optimized for ten-twist and the box will match one of the colors on your stock.

Please let us know what loads/bullets work best for you. We have our own 6.5x47 + 6mm-6.5x47 project in the works. We are also going to put together a new Cartridge Guide once all the data's in.

Nice scope choice, BTW. The Conquests are getting more pricey with the declining dollar, but that's still my favorite 1" tube 6-20 on the market.

Mod,
The sweet spot is 39g of Varget pushing 80g Nosler B-tip, she hummmmmms!!
I agree, Conquest offers great value for the buck, I sold most of my Leupold last year and replaced them with the Zeiss and Docter, I found some unreal steals on Ebay.

I just PM you my emial address.

Very nice looking rig.

I built mine with an 8 twist. But I've been shooting more bullets that would work in the 10.

A few weeks ago I tried some 95Bergers. I didn't have much luck with them in my 6br but never gave them much of a chance.

So I took them, my Lee Nut Cracker and powder thrower out to the desert. I set it about 35gr before I left the house. I also set my seating depth.

Just start adding and shooting 3 for groups and vel. Kept working up until I hit the vel. that I wanted to. Still no bolt lift issues. I was shooting in the .3s at 100 but that was as good as I was trying to shoot, bi-pod and no rear bag.

So I had a fresh painted steel at 500. Did the math and dialed up. Made a hit. I grabbed another 3/4 of up and shot three.
I knew they were tight but stopped to measure.
I finally broke the 1" mark at 500.
RL-15.

With the vel I'm getting with the 95 Bibs and Bergers I haven't shot the 105 and 107 like I thought I would when building the gun.

Very good round. Rock barrel on order for a sister 6.5x47.

Scouttech,

You're not the first guy who has experimented with the 95s in a 6-6.5x47 with considerable success. When you look at the velocities that are possible and run the numbers, things get very interesting.

The more we learn about this cartridge, both as a 6mm and a 6.5), the more impressed we are. I was talking to Allie Euber and he has a 6-6.5x47 that he's running with 75-80gr bullets at "insane" velocities and he says the brass is holding up.

It really is a "supercharged BR" case and I think it will be a couple years until we've really established its potential with the full range of bullet weights.
