Looking through the popular suppressors try to find a model to fit the DPMS LR-243 and the popular highly rated manufacturers don't make a version for a 6mm. Can any one recommend a good one or have experience with a 6.8mm can on a 6mm?
Get a 308 can and you can shoot anything smaller than a 308 dia bullet through it. I shoot 223, 22BR, 243 280 and 308 through my Shark 308 can.
Shark and Thunderbeast are outstanding, both Ti cans.
Surefire is light and they are quick-attach cans. Light and expensive. Pretty quiet. I have a 338 can on my AIAWM 338 Lapua. I dont need earplugs with full power 338 lapua ammo. My 300 Whisper Bolt gun uses this can and it sounds like a pellet rifle.
When researching my first suppressor I wanted a dedicated 6mm "can". At the time the only folks that would talk to me about a 6mm "can" was AWC. Chris at AWC was a pleasure to work with. Answered my many questions accurately and politely. I decide to go with a titanium 6mm "can" from AWC. The combination Tubb SpecTaclr in 6xc works extremely well and is hearing safe. With the suppressor the Oehler 35P shows a 33fps increase over the same load on the same day.
I feel that if you require the best performance use a suppressor sized to the caliber. I have several suppressors now, all of which are caliber specific. I cannot complain about the the results. Having said that if I had taking the advice of "buy a 30 caliber can & just use it" I would have more money but maybe less performance. I have tried the 6mm "can" on a .223 & while I didn't use sound instruments the 6xc sounded quieter. These are just my experiences your mileage may vary.

whats the thread on the muzzle of the DPMS? the ASE UTRA CQB designed for the 5.56 works very well on 6mm cartridges, though the compact model in 30 cal is a good bet, as said earlier caliber specific gives the best performance but for flexibilty and cost effectiveness one big enough to fit all your calibers is the way to go.
Quicksilver makes awesome titanium suppressors. They made me a custom one with the 308 body and a 6mm hole reamed in it. No extra cost, just need to wait till they do a production run.
I agree - they are the best I have used and I currently have one on my .270 - but they do add length, which may or may not be an issue depending on the style and use of the rifle
I agree that a .30 cal can is the best and simply make sure the mounting is concentric to the bore. The suppression level can be outstanding. I use an AAC Cyclone model on several rifles with tis method.
I can also atest to this as use the ASE utra CQB on my 6BRX and it's absolutely an amazing suppressor. No body quites beleives I'm shooting a 6mm when I have the can on....it's great.
I went with a QSM 308 for my 20PPC and it sure takes the bark off. Take a look at 223 cans. Most have a bore of .270-.3 which is plenty of room for a .243. The bore on the qsm308 is .345. Always make sure the threads are concentric!
i had david from shark suppressors build me a 6mm can its super quite. i also have one of his 308 cans. i shoot 22 throught 6mm with the one and 6.5 through 308 in the other.
This side of the Atlantic (England), we also have the Quicksilver suppressors - the attached picture shows they supply them in 6mm. I myself have the 6.5mm version on my AIAW in 6.5x47; all I can say is that it performs superbly, the level of suppression is excellent, and shooting without additional hearing protection is the norm.
Shooting with the suppressor, but without ear defenders, the perceived sound level of the shooter (and spectators) is significantly lower than when shooting with ear defenders, or inner ear plugs, but with the suppressor removed.
