6mm Remington

I had my first 722 in .244 as a used rifle (75.00) while a freshman in college. They were all 12 twist. I shot it out and rebarreled it with a Douglas Air Gauge in another 12 twist. Great groundhog gun and instant DRT on deer. One load for everything. 48gr 4831 with a 75gr Sierra HP. Here is the secret, magnum primers only. Have fun.

Ruger 1B 6mm Remington for me.

Ruger MKII in 6mm Remington for my son.

Remington Model 600 Centennial (1964) in 6mm Remington (My sons now, was my 1st rifle.).
75th Anniversary of Montana Statehood and 100th Anniversary of the Montana Territory.

LOVE THE 6MM REMINGTON

My 1B has been hiding in the back of my safe for over 10 years. I finally decided to see if it will shoot. After discovering it has a 1:10 twist, I dug out some Barnes 62 grain Varmint Grenades, a few 87 grain BTHP's and some 90 grain flat bases that should be friendly and loaded them in some Remington brass with VV N530 for the 62's and N160 for the heavier bullets. Tomorrow looks to be a decent day so I'll see how they act.

never heard about the magnum primers!

I got a cousin thats got an old .244. Remington must of made them for varmint rifles with that 1 in 12 twist. The 6mm way better deer rifle. Doug

Back in the 70's I had a Remington 788 left hand in 6mm rem. Killed about a million
(maybe more) groundhogs with it. 85 grain Sierra boattail and ....forgot the powder.

I now have my uncles hand me down 788 in 6mm, been hunted and shows it but shoots well. I then found its twin in near mint condition for cheap so I purchased it as well. I then built myself a 6mm Rem AI in a heavy 8 twist 26" that is a tack driver, and just recently built another 6 Ackley with an IBI carbon barrel and an AG comp. Stock. It's my light carry coyote and deer gun. I will say a light gun seems more difficult to shoot tiny groups with then a heavy 12-13 lb gun. Love the round.
