Hi guys was just checking to see if anyone had a pet load that worked well with 6mm Remington and Hornady 58 grain v-max .
I was 46 grains of Varget with an CCI 200 and it seems to be all over the place .

I tried this bullet in my 788 with a few different powders, it never grouped well. I stepped up to a 75 with much better results

Get some Reloader 19 or N150, set your Chronograph up, load it untill it hits 3700 fps and tune from there. 3800 is easily in reach.
51 grains of Reloader 19 will get you there. A fellow shooter at my local club has a 788 chambered in 6MM Remington that he shoots 55 grains at darn near 3900.

Did you choose the 75 Vmax

I can reach 3700 with Varget pretty easily.
But it does not group well

I tried them out of curiosity in a PPC. Shoot some very tiny groups. Also some 4 and 1s taking a nice group to .7 or so. This was with no load development. Just substituted them in my normal load .

My father shot mostly 55gr. Ballistic tips and occasionally the 58gr. V-Max in his 6mm Remington and he always shot IMR4064. It shot really well with this powder and had very long barrel life as well.

I have a 700 with a 1:10 chambered in 6mm Ackley I tried the 58’s but was real accurate I also stepped up to 75 vmax with DuPont 3031 shoots lights out both in fire forming and as the improved case. Good luck

Have you bore scoped your barrel to determine extent of wear? Those are darn hot loads, lots of powder, lots of flame and heat.

a 55 BT will scoot but i never tried the 58. accuracy is under 4000 fps. i have used varget but the last load was 8208.
