i have acquired all the parts for a 6mm mach 4 rifle and i am currently waiting on the re

i am looking for load data . i have read the article from single actions . com looking for more and my google fu is weak . thank you all for reading

With 500 - 750 rounds of accurate barrel life, I'm not surprised there aren't many who use it.

6mm Mach IV = 7mm RemMag necked down to 6mm
6mm Arnold = .264 WinMag necked to 6mm
6mm Atlas = 338 WinMag neckd to 6mm

Quickload has the 6mm Arnold and 6mm Atlas in the database.

If you wanna tell me what bullet and powder you wanna use I can tell you what Quickload calculated.

According to QL, the 6mm-Atlas can reach up to 3,550 fps with 105 grainers in a 30" tube with out exceeding 63,000 psi.

And 4,100 fps with 70 grainers.

Sounds like a bullet drag race - - velocity for the sake of velocity - - what's the point?

Am I missing something here?

I did something similar many years ago with a 6mm/300 Dakota. I was a few decades ahead of the beltless magnum evolution. I used the 300 Dakota to get a nice long neck not to run from a belt. All I can say is 5 barrels lasted me less than 3200 rounds. Big expense with very limited barrel life. But boy it sure did go fast.o_O

I really don't care what part kills them either the bullet or the barrel pieces . really wanting to build and have fun With it. I have two barrels ready to go and I am going to order another when I get shooting.

QL data for the 6mm Atlas (338winmag neck to 6mm)

3.340" coal
107 smk
H-1000

26" barrel
68gr = 3,350 fps, 62,000 psi

30" barrel
68gr = 3,475 fps

Start lower, work up bla bla bla :)

6mm Arnold (.264winmag neck to 6mm) reached 61,500psi with 66gr of H-1000

Some actions with the right brass will work up to 65,000 psi with out showing pressure, so you have to run a ladder to find out what's safe with your components.

i actually got a 3 groove 12 twist pacnor barrel one is 32 " the other is 26" maybe they will work out.

Interested to see what you get out of this build. Do you think the 12T will be fast enough for those heavy pills?

Aaron

I've shot lot's of 107 Sierra's, a 12 won't stabilize them. Even the 95 SMK needs a 9. The 87 V Max would probably stabilize but that's an awful big case for a bullet that light. You'd be going backwards in efficiency and BC. You might consider selling or trading those 12"s in for an 8".

Swd - how fast have you run them? The Sierra tec I talked with was fairly confident it would work. I am willing to try and if it doesn't work I will use the second barrel for something more reasonable.

I'm down around 3000. If the Sierra tech says they'll work go with it, don't pay any attention to me!
