6mm Creedmoor Build

I am looking to rebarrel a REM 700 243 to 6mm Creedmoor for varmint/predator hunting. Looking for thoughts for barrel specifics.

I'd prefer to stick bullets around 70gr.

Thanks in advance...

I had one built on a Rem 700 a few months back and used a 20 inch Proof Research barrel with a 9tw because I knew I wouldn't be slinging the super heavy for caliber bullets. I'm shooting 70gr Nosler Ballistic Tips. Here is a link to my 6CM build. https://forum.accurateshooter.com/threads/6mm-creedmoor-70gr-nosler-ballistic-tip-load-info.3991147/

A lot of companies make great prefit barrels. I had a savage 243 and just rebarreled it into 6.5 creedmoor. Bought a criterion prefit and an action wrench and put it on myself no problem. But a lot of companies make pre fits for remingtons as well. Criterion and proof were the 2 I looked at. In terms of twist and length and weight. I would figure out what bullet you plan on using and then go to the companies website and it will usually tell you what twist rate works best for the bullet you choose. I like long barrels, but that’s just a personal preference.

I have a 6mm Creedmoor with a .109" Freebore and have been shooting the Sierra 80grn #1515 Varminter bullets. It's a newer build for myself. On the factory Hornady 87grn V-Max loaded bullets, I had to shorten the over all length of the cartridge .030" to fit in my rifle with the .109" freebore.

I really think you would love a 6xc in 50 freebore. I have those barrels in stock. The 6 Creedmore is a knock off of the 6xc. Peterson brass from Tubb is $68 per $100.

AGREE with, Urban Rifleman,.. Go 6XC, using 1-9.5 to 1-10 Twist , short .050 - .055 Freebore and don't look, back ! Shoot the 55's up to the # 1515, 80 grainers ! A Varmints worst dream and EASY on Barrels if, NOT "crazy" on Powder charges and HOT burning Powders ! The VhitaVouri, N140 to N-160 series is,.. GREAT ! And be sure to buy,.. Forster Dies !

I have Wilson dies. They are so good and match the Tubb reamer I use

Never used Wilson Dies but, I DO KNOW that, Forster beats the heck out of almost ALL of, the cheaper Dies like, RCBS, Lyman, Hornady, etc and produces LESS than, .002 TIR "runout" for ALL of, my Bullets in, .243 Win . .22-250 Rem and .270 WSM. Got me, a box full of,.. the other "krap", Dies !
Thanks for, suggesting N-160 in my .243 Win,. it's GOOD, "stuff" under, the 87 Berger HVLD and 87 V-Max !
