6mm BRX Neck turn or No neck turn

I've pretty much worn out the barrel for my 6mm BRX so I'm looking at new barrels for it. Haven't picked one yet but looking at Bartlein, Kreiger, Brux and Broughton 1-8 twist 29"-30" length. My current Lilja barrel has a turned neck chamber of .266" and my fired brass is .265". I would like to keep my existing barrel for fire forming only which means I would still need to turn necks (Big PIA). I'm using 6mm br Lupua brass so my question is do I still need to be turning necks or just let go of it? I had some extremely good groups when my old barrel still had some life left in it and I still have the PG&T reamer for it. Opinions?

The smith you pick may have a no turn BRX reamer and you could have both set up for that. Running in a .271" ND reamer shouldn`t cost much at all in a .266" chamber. I do my own stuff and feel the no turn with a super light clean up is about as good as you could want. My last reamer I ordered was a .269" ND and use a .0115" wall thickness, my no turn stuff I turn to .012"

I have 2 BRX's. NO turn necks. Heck, there's not much of a neck to turn.

I fireform the brass, get the spec's I want without any extra processes, and both are very accurate.

Thanks guys for the come back...........No turn neck it is and I will use the same reamer for both the new barrel and the old that way I can fire form with the old barrel. Now I just need to shop for a No turn 6mm brx reamer to use.

I like the .4714" base @.200" that JGS uses for their reamers. They sometimes have these on the shelf.

I just went to Bullets.com and reviewed the print for the BRX they sell. It has a .087" freebore for varmint weight bullets, and a .470" base @ the .200".

I would go a different route.

Thanks TC I think I will take into consideration your advice and maybe go with the .4714" base @.200" that JGS uses for their reamers. I still have guys at my club saying I should stick with the .266" neck turn reamer I already have so I'm still comtemplating choice.

Well its almost November, and turning necks is a good past time, winter project. I would do a couple hundred over this winter if you decide to stay the course. The .266" is a good choice, but takes 2 different passes like turning each piece twice.

In my opinion I wouldn't buy a PTG reamer as they are junk. I got rid of all mine for dirt cheap. I can visibly with the naked eye see the difference between an unpolished chamber cut by PTG and JGS. Ive had reamers from PTG way out of spec. Let alone the fact that every one leaves rings up and down the chamber. Since I have switched to JGS I have had them send me exactly what I spec and the chambers are flawless. There was a few pics of PTG and JGS reamer cutting edges under a microscope on longrangehunting.com and the ptg looked like a hacksaw blade whereas JGS was beautiful. What do you want cutting your throat? Also when JGS tells me 6 weeks on a reamer its 6 weeks or less. Not so much can be said about PTG.
