6mm BR

I have a 6mm BR in a savage target action 29" 8 twist. We are getting ready to shoot 1000 bench rest steel shiloutte's and my friends nephew needs a gun. I have never shot the 6BR yet what kinda speeds can I get out of it and is it suitable for this kind of shooting?? I have much bigger guns but the kids 15 and 115lbs most of my other stuff is way to big.
