6mm br to 6x47 lapua

First of all i am not farmiliar with gunsmithing at all so if this is a stupid question oh well. I currently have a 29 inch barrel on my 6mmbr when the barrell is shot out is it a possibility to say cut part of the barrel of and rechamber in 6x47L and have a 24 in barrel? What would the longest barrel i could get out of it. Just curious. Thanks in advance.

You would need to have the bore looked at with a high quality bore scope to be able to determine the extent of the fire cracking. It would be false economy imo to just cut off the existing chamber and rechamber into a fire cracked section. I would want to cut the bbl to eliminate the eroded area and this might mean the bbl is much shorter than you prefer.

When you shoot out a 6BR barrel.... you got your money worth and the barrel is toast, no reason to fk with rechambering it. A 6 BR last a long long time...

Your talking putting a million miles on a car, buying new tires and trying for another 500k miles... theres a point where you just buy a new dang car/barrel..

So imo, buy a new barrel, get it chambered, and have both if thats what you want, cuz you wont wear out a 6BR barrel, youll drive it into the ground..

I agree with sniper 338 , it's also not worth it to cut , thread and rechamber a used barrel unless you can do the work , even then it may not be a shooter like it once was .
