I and my sweetie just upgraded our savage 12f's. Bellow are the upgrades, so I'm looking for suggestions from members who may have these upgrades, or similar, and where you may have advice to a starting point that has worked for you as we get ready to do our load work ups. If you've had better results from other powders I'd love to see that info. We partisapate in 600 yard shoots, and are planing to do our load development this winter to find what to use this coming summer.
The reason for all the upgrades was to up our game this next season. The original savage barrels were giving up 2 1/2" to 4" groups till my barrel show signs of problems after 15 rounds at shoots. So we decided to just upgrade both rifles after about 1500 rounds down the barrels.

6mm br norma, savage 12f's
Both rifles add ons and upgrades
Devcon bedding
New cnc machined barrel nuts
New cnc machined lugs
New ppg cnc machined lugs
New bartlien 1:8 twist 30" 5R barrels

Using lapua brass
.002 neck tension
I have three Berger bullets to test
105 vlds
105 hybrids
108 taget
Using 450 cci primers
Varget powder

Not sure what your freebore is, but with the 108's, 30.3 gn of Varget seated -.010" to -.015" off a hard jam works fantastic in my 1 in 8 twist barrels with .105" freebore. 30.2 gn of Varget worked awesome with the Hybrids, jammed +.015". work up as usual, though.

You're starting over again. BUT the experience you gained from burning out 2 barrels will likely get you there quicker on your " new" rigs.
Enjoy the ride!

Save a couple of test bullets for me.

I would very much be interested in your journey and findings with these bullets you have selected to test. May I ask how much free bore your working with?
