6mm BR cycling/ Bryant conversion

Does anyone have experience with the bryant conversion to make a 6 br cycle its rounds? If so is it successful in achieving this?

I modified a Rem mag box as per his instructions. It did work most of the time but not as smoothly as I would have liked. I have had much better luck with CDI bottom metal and modified AI 223 magazines. Considerably slicker IMO and the mag will hold 7 BR rounds. I am using a 22BR.

Actually I have done both 308 AI mags and 223 AI mags.

To do the 308 mags is more difficult, but it may yield a 10 round capacity where the 223 AI mags only hold 7. The 308 mags require a spacer in the rear, a shorter follower, as well as a shorter span coil spring in my opinion.

The 223 AI mags require the mag to sit up as high as possible, feed lips CAREFULLY opened up to the same width as the 308 mags and then you have to radius the underside of the mag lip so that the BR round will sit up in the proper position. You also have to open up the front of the 223 mag to allow the fatter BR case to load into the mag itself. The follower and spring in the 223 AI mags do not require any mods. I like the CDI bottom metal here as its mag catch has 2 positions for the latch to allow you to adjust the height. It can be trimmed to the correct length.

The 223 AI mags are far easier to make work. I have tried to get the HS precision mag to work as well, and think I can make it work, but again, it would require making a shorter follower so that the bullet tip is close to the feed ramp for proper leverage. I hope this helps.
