On a single shot break open go with a 26" as it will give you all the velocity you need and still be short and handy. You could step uo to 28" but it may be a bit to heavy if it is not you could go that way but there is not much velocity difference between 26 and 28". My hunting 6mmBR has a 22" barrel to keep it handy for shooting out of a vehical while spotlight shooting here in Australia or shooting feral pests from the vehical in daylight.

There is not a lot of velocity lost in a shorter barreled 6br.
Just go with the length that you can be comfortable with.
A 20 inch barrel may loose a bit of velocity but the accuracy will sure still be there.
So it depends on what you want to do with the final product.
