6mm AR barrels

With the release of the 6MM ARC, it seems that 6mm AR chambered barrels are about as rare as hens teeth. I built a 6mm AR using an X-caliber barrel a few years ago that performs really well. But like many other barrel makers, they no longer offer 6mm AR as a chamber option. Is there anyone making/chambering a quality 6mm AR barrel? I'd like to build another 6mm AR. Thx!

I've got a reamer. AR or bolt gun? A good used BR barrel is a big step up from a cheaper new one, IMO. You generally cut off the worn part anyway(6-12") and you can pick them up for little to nothing. Winds up close to the same money. Bottom line, I'd rather have a worn out premium bbl than a new but lesser quality bbl. Just an option and a good way to come up with a premium bbl. I've done several this way for gas guns. They've all been very good.

Mike Bottinger at Buffalo Valley Gunsmithing in Pa can fix you up. You can reach him at gumgb00@hotmail.com or (814) 360-9805

I obtained a .243 Win AR barrel from Columbia River Arms pre pandemic and it is a hammer. Shoots 108 ELD 0.3’s and is a joy to shoot at 1000.

I picked up one here a few years ago from another member and it has been a dang good barrel everything from 70 nosler Btips to 105 vld bergers.
I think you can get still order them from Columbia River

I purchased a 6mm AR barrel for my AR-15 from McGowan about a year ago. Unfortunately they screwed up the order and sent me a 22" barrel rather than the 20" I ordered. Rather than the hassle of returning it, I cut it off and re-crowned it myself. IIRC, lead time was about 3 months. Shoots well though.

Thanks for the advice. This would be for an AR-15 build. I run 6mm Creedmoor on my bolt guns and AR10 builds, but I really like the ballistics on the 6mm AR for my AR-15 longer range builds -- the 6mm ARC seems to give up 2 grains of case capacity vs the 6mm AR (6mm Grendel), which I don't want to lose.

Thanks! I'll check them out

I see McGowan still offers 6mm Grendel -- I'll check them out

Yes, I too was referring to the 6 Grendel. Personally, I think the only reason for an ARC existing is because there was already a 6AR/Grendel. No experience with the ARC but a 6 Grendel is an excellent cartridge.

Do a google search for Ritch's Precision Guns, give Ritch a look.... his is going to be the 243LBC which is the same as Roberts 6AR. I've gotten several from Ritch and don't have a single complaint! I've got my own reamer now :) I sorta like the little round and 90% of the info came from Ritch, he's a good dude.
