6mm Ackley bullet choice

I have a 6mmAi (8twist)that I built just to burn the barrel off of. What bullet would you reccomend for deer and yotes under 400yds? Looking for impressive terminal performance at warp speeds. I tried a Speer 100gr grand slam thinking I needed the extra toughness, 60yds@ 3400+ mv and it was still to tough. Deer was plenty dead 70 paces later, but I feel like more explosive and less hammer on through is what Im after. But shoulder blades happen and splashs just suck, not stoked about pencil wounds either. I have Smk 110, 95tmk, 105hybrid, 105 scenar, 100gr interbond, 100gr sgk 95 nosler 95 berger vld hunting and the 95tmk and a 87 vmax and 85hpbt.
Any insight from experiences?

75 gr Sierra HP , come up the rear of the front leg 1/4 of the way into the body DRT plus you only need to take out the filet and cut up the hind quarters. Killed many this way with a straight 6mm.

At that range the Hornady 75 grain VMAX, I just hope you don't mind picking up a mess of a kill. At 6mm AI velocities it will make a mess.

80g Barnes TTSX, R#19, Win case, CCI 250, 3800 fps with .050 off the lands in 26".

You will become a TRUE BELIEVER in a 6 AI and the 80g TTSX! Shoots holes through deer and hogs from all angles. Sight in at 1/2" high at 200!

I’d be interested in hearing about anyone’s experience with the 87 V-Max on deer. Bet it would plant a whitetail but man talk about messy.

My 6mm AI, 1:8, 26", shoots deadly accurate with low ES and SD, the 90 grain sierra tipped game king with 53 grains of H4831sc, chronos right at 3500 FPS. Been very happy with this load.

Here's one you might find on the shelf somewhere. I use them in my 243 AI. 85 gr. Speer. Killed lots of deer and a good pickup load of Red Stags with them.

85g Speer btsp is a DEER bullet, not a varmint bullet! NOW to find some, I have 5oo on back order.

What about Sierra 85 HPBT? They have a reputation for being an effective deer bullet in a .243 Win. Not sure how they would perform with the extra velocity from a 6mm AI.

Apologies for the hijack, but what overall length are you folks running for this cartridge? I'm debating doing this round on a Model 70 Featherweight short action. If I do the mag box modification I should be able to get within a dime of 3.1". I'd only plan on 105/107 grain.

Run a long action trust me, my savage short action with 90 sierra TGK, I have to jump them .080 just to fit mag length. The heavies are alot worse.

I would stick with what you have. I try not to destroy any more of my meat than needed when I'm eating what I kill. If it works leave it alone. I want to kill it not disintegrate it.
