Hey guys,
I sold the 6mm/284 barrel I had on my Remington 700. I had the chance to examine closely the throat area before I sent it away, and I have to say that the throat area showed no signs whatsoever of fire cracking or erosion. This was after 550 rounds of 87gr v-max's with 56.8 grs H1000.
I guess it just goes to show that with proper break in and cleaning procedure, never letting the barrel get too hot and not stocking the pressures thru the roof, throat life can be improved somewhat even with overbore cartridges.
Regards,
Michael.
