6mm-284- low recoil

I have a 18 yr-old daughter who wants to go whitetail hunting. she's not a shooter (yet) and we are working on the basics. I have a hunting weight 6-284 that seems like the best choice. Does anyone have a lower recoil load? Shots likely will be 100yd or less. Don't need much speed....I don't have much time to "work down" a load. I haven't shot the rifle in a while and haven't located my notes. Don't know what it likes ...thanks.

H 4895 powder is the go to for reduced recoil loads . I doubt if you'll find any printed info on the 6-284 , but I'll bet a call to hodgdons powder will get you the info you're looking for . I agree with the lighter bullets too .

I have no experience with the 6/284 but I've had good luck using IMR 4064 for light loads in 260,270, and 30/06. The Sierra manual shows 34.6 Gr of IMR 4064 behind a 85 Gr bullet for 2900 fps and 33.0 Gr behind a 100 Gr bullet for 2700 fps in the 6/284. Hope this is some help.
