6mm 105gr Berger hybrids load/seating depth?

hi guys
just a quick one as i have just got my hands on 1500x 105gr hybrids as i am running low on my 105gr hunting vlds for target
has anyone gone from using 6mm berger hunting vlds to the 105gr hybrids?
if so did you start a complete load testing again or did you just use the same powder weight as the vlds?
and did you change the seating depth or just run the same as your vlds? eg just set up the same in/out of the lands as the vlds
cheers

I used to jump them 50 thou in my dasher. They hammered til the throat wore (hot 2206h load), I couldnt get them retuned after that. Soon ran out of that batch and got into the next batch which seemed to like a 10 thou jam but never really did the business as I needed. I still have about 40 or so left which I will use to either shoot roos or use as fouling shots. Wont go near them for a target bullet, they are too inconsistent in this batch and also between batches for my liking. Have just got onto the 105 JLK's which measure up very consistent in both weight and bearing surface. Shot them for the first time at 500m fclass sunday. First load was poor, second load shot a 58 with one lost to a dropoff and another to a direction change. Would have been a 59 if the group was better centered. Took them back to 1000yds later off the bench and when the mirage stayed consistent I was able to hold very good vertical.

I'm the cautious type so I would start about grain below your regular load. Since you were using VLDs I assume you were close to the lands. The profile of the VLDs is different than the hybrids. The hybrids are likely to hit the lands sooner than the vlds and you may get a 50-100 fps spike if their jammed hard. YMMV.

kindest regards,

Joe

comagutsa,
Its ok to use the same powder you were using with the 105 VLD bullets. As for the seating depth. Try they same distance off the lands you used for the VLD ( MAKE A DUMMY ROUND TO THE LANDS WITH A HYBRID BULLET FIRST SO YOU HAVE A GAUGE)and use at the lowest powder charge listed for the bullet/powder/cartridge combination you are testing to test for the seating depth sweet spot. If the rifle dosent like the bullet there then go to .015 off the lands and work back in .015 increments at the lowest powder charge. After you find the seating depth sweet spot work your load back up in 1/2 grain increments until you get to 2 grains below MAXIMUM then drop to 1/10th grain increments checking for pressure and accuracy as you go along until you find your velocity sweet spot. Hope this helps! And thank you for using our bullets!

Measure the bearing surface, if its the same they should run the same velocity. I start everything but vlds .010 off and work from there, vlds I start .010 in.

Cheers guys
Yeah looks like start all over again is the way.. bugger. Was hoping to save time
Yeah im running the vlds .020 off the lands as I get great accuracy there (.050 off the lands is also accurate as also)
Yeah going to run the hybrids in my 6BR.
