6m dasher v 6br

Yes!!! It's well worth it!! 150-200fps increase...Look at all the records that have fallen just this year with a Dasher...

Not anything appreciable over a 6BR. You are only burning a few more grains of powder. I have never heard the Dasher referred to as a barrel burner.

One formula I use to roughly estimate barrel life is based on bore area and powder weight. For 30 grains of powder in a 6mm, life comes out to 2980 rounds. If this is increased to 33.5 grains, life goes down to 2390.

RonAKA, could you elaborate about your formula a bit. It sounds pretty good and I would love to know how to figure that out for myself. That could prove very useful for future projects.

Thanks
Kenny

It is an empirical rule of thumb formula developed by Bartt Bobbitt. Link here:

It is fairly simplistic and does not account for barrel length, barrel material, powder burn rate, or bullet weight, just bore size and powder weight. I still think it is a reasonable estimate, when simply comparing different cartridges for their relative tendency to consume barrel life.

niceone,

Have you looked at the 6BRX. You can use our 6BR dies for loading. All you would need is a 308 body for F/L the base of the case. The Dasher and the 6BRX are the same as far as shooting records, both have many.

Having the option of higher muzzle velocity, is a plus in my book. It's just money, comes and goes. There are a few things the 6mmBR Improved won't do though, like ah hum never mind

yes after looking at it the brx does look good has any one on here owned all 3 ?

Sam Hall, 600 yd shooter of the year and Nat'l Champion has all three, and he has set records with all three. His latest gun variant is going to be a 6BRDX which is sort of a Dasher with a longer neck. I do think that might be the best case geometry of all.

niceone,

I have had 6BR, 6BRBS, and 6BRX. You can use 6BR dies for the BRX and can but factory dies for a Dasher. I think, there is not a dimes difference between any if the 6BR IMP's, it boils down to "The Barrel you have". The IMP's will give you a long range edge over the 6BR. I would not change to a Dasher from a BRX. Any one you pick will be fine.
