6BRX brass length

OK gang, I need some thoughts here, getting my BRX up and running and have shot about 150 pieces of brass fire forming in prome matches. So, some was new brass and most older 6BR brass, all Lapua. So, some was 1.540 area, some 1.530 area and some 1.520 area. Was thinking trim the 1.540 stuff to about 1.538 and shoot all that together, keep the 1.520 stuff by itself and the really short stuff trash or use for a few initial sighters in unlimited sighter matches, any thoughts? Thx, Dave

Don't get excited about too short brass. I shoot 6BRX's and last year trimmed a box of cases way to shot, much shorter than your talking about, late one night. Did a lot of winning last year with that box of cases. I normally trim to 1.548. To much worry about numbers, go practice on windy days and pay attention while your doing it. If you are a active competitive shooter you will be way ahead of the game.

Thx, Jeff, kind of what I figured, just wanted to check, I never paid that much attention when I shot a straighter BR but with the shorter neck wanted to be sure. Of course I shoot a 240 Tomahawk for XTC and that round has about half the neck of the BRX and hammers!

Keep shooting the shorter stuff at it will still grow if you only have shot it once to FF, I trim mine to 1.547 as I found my FF stuff was longer than my hydro formed stuff but the hydro formed was a more consistent length , shortest brass I have is about 1.539

agree, it will grow I just wasn't sure on how much to mix the lengths so figured keep the major differences in separate batches.
