6brdx forming question

Is a false shoulder necessary for forming the brdx or is it a load and shoot?????

I've owned a BRX for several years now and have only ever loaded and fired. If you want 99% of the case blown out go with a fairly stiff load, if you want 75% of the case blown out go with a mild load and fireform again, have only lost 2ea cases out of over 200 with this method. It is wise to oil new unfired brass it allows the brass to flow smoother into the chamber.I put a drop of oil between index finger and thumb and spin loaded round covering everything except rim and fire. Use heavy neck tension and jam bullet into lans 10-20 thou.Make sure to clean chamber after fireforming session is completed. I have used cheap bullets for this also.

You can load and fire, but with the bullets jammed in the rifling. I used 105 a-max with 30 gr. of RL-15, 100% fireformed lost only one case.

With the 6mmBR-DX I would say no false shoulder. The neck shoulder junction should be positioned the same as the standard 6mmBR. i.e like a Ackley Improved round.

I say jam, and shoot!

cheers

I have done both with my BR-DX and I prefer the false shoulder method. The jam just didn't give a constent case leanth for me.
