6BRA with AA2495

I have been testing AA2495 in my BRA with 108gr Hottenstein and getting good results with speed and accuracy. Has anyone else tried this powder just curious of your results

BTW, since we're telling all, Staball works pretty darn nicely in it also. And, it meters through a powder measure for thrown charges instead of the maddening weighing/trickling.

No.

This shortage has pretty much dispelled the myth that "only this will work".

I noticed that too.
It doesn't work with a poop from a powder measure.
However, it does real well from the Chargemaster

AA-4064 looks good on paper too. It grabs about 70fps more velocity with the 105s.

I shot 31.2 grains of AA2495 yesterday with a 108 Hottenstein in a BRA and the average velocity was 2937 out of a 26 inch Hart barrel and no pressure

Only the target can tell you what power will shoot. Anything with a suitable burn rate will work, but the target will tell you what's accurate. We cant tell you that. Try everything you have access to and see what it does

Back in my prairie dog shooting days I used some 2495 in a 22 BR and it shot okay, but had a terrible muzzle flash.

We shoot a 100 meter prone fun match each week. I ordered 4 lbs of AA2495 when things got scarce. I loaded it behind a 70 SMK in my Dasher and the 100 meter groups were just in the 3’s. I loaded it in my 223 in LC cases behind a 73 Berger, again bug holes. I moved to Lapua cases in the 223 and the internal volumn must be less as the powder came right up the neck and proved difficult to seat the bullet where I wanted it. So, I slapped on my 223AI barrel, we’ll soon see how it handles with a little more room. AA2495 is a great powder, although a bit coarse, I’d buy more for sure.
