Anyone know the neck size on a factory 6br Savage? I think it is a 1/8 twist , will it shoot bullets in 55-80 grain range? Thanks for helping an " old dummy" out! JVON

You can get a close measurement on the neck by measuring a fired case neck, it will shoot 55 to 80
grains fine but with 1/8 twist you could go heavier

Don't have barrel yet. Found some once fired brass , but necks are turned to .009 and I don't know how tight neck is on the factory 6br (savage).

They ain't so tight that you have to turn brass if its a factory chambering

If it's clearance you are concerned about, my Savage Model 12 Benchrest 6mm rifle (1:8 twist) easily chambers a loaded cartridge measuring .267 at the neck. The brass BTW is the new blue box Lapua without the necks turned.

You're going to have a loaded neck diameter of. 261 with those turned cases. Not going to hurt anything but your brass is going to get worked over pretty well firing and sizing that much. Definitely want to anneal or you will get split necks fairly quickly.

I have a Savage model 12 Benchrest in 6BR. It is still wearing the factory 8 twist barrel and the factory chamber. My loaded rounds with blue box Lapua and 107 Sierra Match Kings measures .268. The fired neck measures .2705. I would guess the neck to be .271 or .272.
