6br with nosler 105

Hi Fellow Shooters
I'm hoping some one can help. Have a savage target action with a Pac-Nor 8 twist barrel. I was shooting berger 105 vld hunting bullets with good results. Now I can not find any and bought some of the new nosler 105. I load them with the same powder as I did the berger bullets. Started at 29 grs and went up to 31 grs in 1/2 gr increments. Bullet seated so the bullet is jammed in the rifling. Shoot from a 100 yds on bench and came up with no decent groups 3 shot groups all were a 1/2 or larger. What would you folks recommend?

THANKS

Shoot the best powder charge again to verify group, and start backing off the lands in .005 increments and see what you come up with. May get lucky.

I'm wondering the same thing but haven't bought any Noslers just yet.

The unavailability of the Bergers is causing me to watch carefully what I have left for this year. I have two boxes of Berger's new 6mm 100 grain HPBT but not loaded any yet. I may shoot some this weekend...

With any change to an existing good load it's worthwhile to work up again from the beginning to find what works best with the new element.

I haven't seen one of the Noslers but I'm guessing the profile, bearing length, boat tail shape, ogive & overall length) is sufficiently different from the Berger 105VLD to require careful load adjustments for the best performance.

At 100 yards they should work fine but will they work as well out to 600, not being a VLD?

According to Berger's spec sheet, the 6mm target 105VLD,#24429) is 1.235' long with a G1 BC of .532.

I found this bullet shot better jumped about .030', quite contrary to popular loading suggestions. I'm running them in a 6HAGAR-chambered WOA match upper, at around 2900 fps. I'll post comments on how the Noslers compare once I've had a chance to put a few into paper sometime after I get the 250 I ordered yesterday.

At least they're available right now, which I can't say is true about the Bergers.
