6br with dtac 115

I am new here and looking for insight with these dtac 115. Has anyone shot these for silhouette if so how did they work for you. I have a Hart bbl with a 8 twist. I have shot the sierra 107mk they work well on the Rams at 500 meters but these dtacs look interesting..what loads are you using...

8 twist might be a shade slow unless your barrel is 28'-30'

You may want to check out steelchickens.com as those guys would have more information regarding silhouette shooting. I would guess you would need at least a 7.5' twist to stabilize the DTAC 115 like some of the high power shooters use.

Thanks folks...I have it posted there too...I have heard that they will shoot in a true 1/8 twist barrel and since I only have to shoot 500 meters I am guessing that it should work out. When I shot big 168gr 7mm out of my tcu they work nicely since they are not flying very fast so thats why I am willing to experiment with the dtac 115 in the 6br I am not looking to get 3000fps but 2600 should do...well we will see soon enough since the bullets are on thier way...I will start with 27grs of varget and see where it goes from there.

Thanks lynn thats just what I was looking for...I have a 24 inch barrel its a scale copy of my smallbore rifle I try to shoot the same set up for hp and sb keeps it simple and I only have to lug 2 rifles instead of 4 cross country. I am sure that I can get to the velocity range i am looking for safely and the 100 fps drop is no big deal i expected about that much but again no problem I only have to lob them out to 500 meters...thanks

I have done exactly what your speaking of, as applies to silhouette. I used a sedate load with varget and 107's, then I used a 'casefull' of H4350 under the 115DTAC. All of this in an 8 twist Douglas, 26 inches long. I was able to reach the high side of 2800fps.,some loads were over 2900) The combination was exceedingly accurate, and of course I lost a number of rams, but it did improve my numbers up front and I still dominated most matches I shot in with it.
