6br v 22br .need help.

Ineed input from you experienced out there.

I thinking of either 22br or 6br in 2007 project.i hope to base the gun on a remmy action, already have stock;;scope; jewell trigger).gun will be used as a varminter; a smith i know can get Lowther walther barrels fairly quickly but will i get more for my £ using a barrel from U.S.A.I also like to shoot small,up to 75 gn bullets ) any thoughts from the experienced out there THANKS.

Tell us more--what kind of varmints and how far will you be shooting?

Do you want explosive impact on the critters or just a sure kill. That can help us recommend bullets and in turn a choice between the 22BR and 6BR.

22BR would have the BC edge in bullets under 80 grains. But the 6BR would be easier to load and probably give longer barrel life.

HI MODERATOR;
the rifle will mainly be a walk round varminter;for fox;crow rabbits.distance of shot if i practice real hard out to 400yds.
Iwould like explosive impact but with safety in mind if a shot is missed; at present i use v-max in 2 rifles these as you know are very effective.

from what info i have from this site the 6br no neck turn would be just right;but i will take on board all info from those who know.barrel choice is a minefield but again i will listen.

thanks for any input any one gives :thumb:

For what you are asking I don't see much difference between the 2 cartridges. As the moderator pointed out, barrel life will be longer with the 6mm. As far as barrels go, you can't go wrong with Krieger, Shilen, Bartlien, Hart, Pac-Nor...and the list goes on. For shooting relitively short range, I would stick with shooting relitively light bullets. 80grs and less in 6mm and mid 60's and less in 22. I'd probably go with a 12 twist barrel in either caliber and use vmax's.

THANKS TIGHTNECK.
plenty to think about;i aint gonna rush in;save some more £££££ and ill keep looking on this site to see whats good or dud.
thanks again garyw.
