6BR twist/grain?

6BR (maybe a repeater) shooting out to 500 yards. Looking for opinions on twist and bullet weight along with barrel length (prefer something shorter if it makes sense)?

A 7.5 twist will shoot any of the 102-108 Gr bullets including the hybrids. This is the class of bullet you will want for 500 yards. I have 26" bbl and 30" bbl 6BR's. They both shoot about 2850fps with 30 Gr of Varget, so I'd say 26" is long enough.

It would be helpful if you could say what types of shooting you'll be doing. Target, silhouette, competition, varminting, 1000 yd watermelon shoot? Just kidding...you said out to 500 yds.

Do some research before deciding on a 6BR repeater. Ten people will say it will work and ten will say it won't. If I was picking a caliber for a repeater in 6mm, 6BR would not be it.

I thought you could center feed the BR? I will check into this more.

Maybe a McMillan Varmint stock and varmint contour barrel, more for the bench, shooting out to 500 yards, if I'm interested maybe future club shoots, maybe varmint down the road.

center stack perhaps. Fat cartridge requires wider magazine. Various result with AI, adapters available. I shoot 8 twist, 105 hybrids out to 800 so far with really good results. Post about 7 and one half is good information to have as well. However, sometimes for S&G's I will shoot 80 Bergers. Wow. Don't know what a 7 and one half would do to that but according to what you said likely not an issue. Like I said, just doing it for kicks.

I had one setup as a repeater and it worked just fine. Just have to modify the magazine. I believe it was a 223 accurate mag than was opened up to accept the 6br circumference case. I did not make the mag so I’m not 100% how to make the modification. It fed 105s and 95s perfect, but like some said above that doesn’t mean it’s always going to work.

I just bought a 7 twist Shilen, only have 40 rounds so far using berger 105 hybrid shoots so far 29.8 varget is stacking them up at 100 will know more when it warms up abit, I'm going to quess from experience owning severl Shilen 6 br's it will shoot 1/4 moa
