For your barrel, instead of turning it down, just do a light pass with a milling head, and redo your engraving on that "new flat".
It will look very neat like that.
How much do you reckon it would cost for you to produce another aluminium chassis for an howa like the one you did?

Thanks ND, I might do that, I have to pull it all apart to cerakote it shortly so I might make a quick trip to the mill and fix it.

I'm almost set up to make these chassis for the Howas and also for short action/model 10 Savages. I've held off a bit because there is a hassle getting the AI skins for them here in Australia but now that Victor Company has their Viperskins available that isn't a problem any more. I'm going to try to get them done for around $8-900 or so ready to fit the skins. I did mine with a Limbsaver pad on it, I think they're a more comfortable pad than the original AI ones and I milled up a slightly shorter cheekpiece so I don't have to remove it to get the bolt out.

I can let you know when I've got something done but in reality it's probably going to be a month or two. I just bought a Savage this week to use to set up that stock and once it's sorted I'm going to do a run of both types. All the parts except the centre action block are the same so it makes it much easier to make them to suit different actions. I'm probably going to do a Tikka one as well once these are done. It's really a bit of a hobby, I've got another business I usually use these machines for but it's nice to be able to make something that I want to make rather than something a regular customer does.
