6BR Rifle Twist VS Powder Selection

OK guys, some of you have helped me out already selecting my reloading equipment for my 6BR and I appreciate your help. I am now in the process of selecting powder and bullets. Never having shot a 6BR, I am reading everything I can find on the forum about loading for the 6BR. That brings me to another question. PLEASE Educate me.

Many of the forum comments I've read that are responding others load data question qualify their powder selection with "for a 1 in 14 twist" I use..... Or you can get away with that load in a 1 in 8 twist barrel.... and they are talking powder charges, not bullet weight. Do faster twist barrels require slower burning powder for the same bullet???? I fully understand that longer bullets need a faster twist and that is why I bought the 1-8 twist barrel. I intend to shoot 75 and 105 gr bullets when hunting this rifle.

Thanks
Scott

I have never found that twist rate had a profound effect on the powder. Every barrel is different and you`ll just have to find the powder that works best. I have had barrels that would work well with about any powder and other that would only shoot 1 powder.

Hi Scott,,,IMHO,,,get some Rx-15 ...it will work with everything in a BR,,especially 75gr and up...some say it shoots dirty,,,if it is they are not "hot" enuff with their load,,,I never look down the bbl.. i look at the targets,,,,that is what counts....prolly more records are held with Rx 15 than any other powder (with the 6mmBR/Dasher)...Roger
PS..practice and test a lot at home,,,,,go to the big ones ,,,,it will pay off,,,,

Thanks for easing my mind a bit....I couldn't concieve of a reason barrel twist should influence powder selection. Bullet selection, yes....powder, not so much. :-)

(Expiper) I appreciate the suggestion and will try to find some Re-15 to try.
