6BR powders

Reloading for newbies lists Varget, RL-15, Norma 203B, & N-150 as appropriate powders for 6BR w/ 105 wgt bullets. Will any of these powders contribute LESS to BBL erosion? Is there a powder not listed that would provide excellent accy. w/ reduced erosion potential. Thanks, Dale

RL-15 is a double based powder, as are any of the VV "5" series powders... I.E. VV N540, N550, N560... However, in your case N540 would be the only one you might use.. Varget and N150 are single-based powders and will "erode" your throat somewhat less.. There is also H4895, and IMR 8208XBR that sit at the top of the 6mmBR list for excellent powders and neither of them are double-based.. So you have a variety to choose from. Of note also Varget, H4895 and IMR 8208XBR are "temperature insensitive" and hold against temp swings very well..

The three Ben mentions above, Varget, H4895 and IMR 8208 XBR, are always good choices. My 6BR shoots very well with H4895 and 105 Hybrids.

I've got me a 6BR coming that is throated for the 105's. I've got plenty of H4895 on hand. May have to get some load info from those of you that are shooting this combo.

Here is a couple that is over looked my gun is throat ed to where I shoot 105 hybrids at 2.440
32.0 Ram shot big game. The one I like the best is 33.0 of Winchester 760 it burns 21''down the barrel to get 95% of velocity it is a little dirty like RL 15. and is temp sensitive.

When Varget was hard to find the first time Obama got elected I bought Ramshot powders to take V. place.

I shot Big Game in a .308 AI. yesterday at 600, it did real well. If I keep this 6BR barrel it will get H4895 down it.

I have a 14T 6BR, will the Varget, 8208 XBR and H4895 powders work with the lighter bullets as well? Or is there something better for the slow twist barrels?

I also have a 14T 6mmBR - I shoot 65gr bullets with XBR-8108, and S&P #7 (similar to H-332)

8208XBR is a shade faster than H4895. It works well in lighter as well as heavier ones. A friend of mine who I talked into getting a 6mmBR has a 1-8twist and shoots 8208XBR in his with 105Bergers. I seen him at the range a couple of weeks ago and he said that it shoots tiny little dots at 200 yards BUT his velocity is low. He said he was in the mid-2700f.p.s. range but he did not care as it shot so well so consistently! I know another guy who uses it in his 6MMBR with (I believe 68gr Bergers) and his has screaming velocity and excellent accuracy.
