6br-- powder for lighter bullets ?

Best powder and loads for 6mmbr--8 twist--68 to 80 grain bullets, thought I would ask before I just started playing -- usually use Varget or RL15 with the 107 range bullets....thanks Neil

I have a 14 twist 6 BR. The locals recommended H322 for the 60 - 70 grain bullets. I am still working on a load so cannot report on performance. I started with Varget. The locals said it was too slow so ...

For light bullets I shoot vv135 up to 80gr. It has shot great in my 6BR-BRDX and 22Br

My 6BR 14 twist and 6PPC both run on Ramshot X-Terminator with HBN coated 68gn projectiles.
My 6BR 8 twist will shoot the same load/bullet just not quite as accurate.
The two together seem to be a match made in heaven.
Not sure if X-Term would work with 80's.

My Cooper (1:10) shoots Sierra 70 match HP with H322 into less than .200 for 5 shots at 100 yards. Also, likes 80 and 90 grain Bergers with Varget and V-N135. If I do my part all will group into 1"at 300 yards.

Stick with h322. My load is 29.6 and it works wonders out of a 14 twist. You will have to back off some to try this load with a 68 grain flat base bullet.

Glad this question came up. I'm trying to shoot 70gr BT's out of an 1-8 6BR I just got used. Varget didn't get super tight groups..will try some of the faster powders mentioned. Will most 8tw barrels shoot the light bullets OK or do I need to get something heavier??

My 6BR likes N133 and N135 with 68 and 70 grain bullets. Also did well with H4895 with same bullets. Not so good with H322 or Varget. So with the powder choices all over the board you will have to try a number of them and find out.

My twist is 13.5, so I'm curious if the twist makes a difference in what powder will work best.

I have two 6BRs, One is a 14 twist 6 BR Remington with a .265 neck and the other is an 8 twist 6BR Norma with a .272 neck. Both shoot the 65 VMAX well with H322.

I get the best velocity without pressure from Varget. Tried 8208, H322, V133, V135. Tried 68 Berger, 58 VMax, 70 Si HPBT, 75 HP Sierra, 70 Blitz King and Barts 68 Gr. As far as accuracy I found the bullet made more of a difference than the powder. Bart Sautiers 68 GR clearly shot the best of all of them. I don't know how they expand on a GH. Soon to find out.

Thanks for the info. I tried your load 30.0 gr of H322 but with a 58 gr. Hornady V-Max. Three shot group of 0.189". 30.3 & 30.6 the groups started getting bigger. Need to Chrono it. It's enough speed for my normal GH distances.

Frankly I'm kinda surprised you only got one recommendation for VVN133 pushing a Barts 68 Gr bullet. That combo holds several national and even a world's record. I shoot a Savage Model 12 6mm Benchrest Target Model and 31 gr of N133 shoots truly nice and tight 5 shot groups for me @ 100 yds. And I'm talking in the .200 - .300 range.

Good info jerr. What velocity are you getting with the 65 vmax and how long is your barrel??

The 14 twist barrel is 20 inches and the 8 twist barrel is 26 inches.

Without going to my notes, my velocity is right around 3300 FPS.

I shoot the 65g VMAX, Berger 65g & 68g FB, and Barnes 68g Match Burner bullets with H322 in a Cooper with a 1-14TW. Getting about 1/4 inch with H322. When I go up to 70-75Gr bullets in a SAV 1-12TW, H4895 gave me best results. Best overall group was a 70gr Matchking with H4895. Almost 5-shot one hole groups.
