6br Norma vs tightneck ?

my 6BR is chambered with 6BR Norma reamer, my barrel is 13.5 twist so I use 68gr Berger bullets.

I have a problem with bullet seating with such a short bullet, when the bullet is seated 1mm in the neck it isn't even close to touching the lands, I tried seating the 88gr Berger and it touches with plenty of seating depth, but it's to heavy for 13.5 twist.

should I have my smith ream the barrel with a tightneck reamer ? would that solve my problem ?

I want the bullets just a little bit jammed, but as is they are jumped at least 2-3mm when the bullet is only seated 1mm in the neck.

dansig: Your problem is the common one: long throat, short bullets. Throat lengths can be made longer by using a throating reamer, but there's nothing that can be done to make them shorter, other than setting the barrel back & recutting the chamber with a reamer that has a shorter ( zero freebore?) throat.

My 6BR PTG chambering reamer, setup specifically for the same 68 gr. Berger #24411 ( my favorite lightweight 6mm) has a zero freebore. I'm able to seat to touch or jam into the lands, and the bullet base will be at least 3/4 of the way down the case neck.

Your chamber may have been cut with a reamer intended for long, heavyweight bullets, and I don't believe there is any quick and easy fix to the problem, other than setting the barrel back.
