6BR long neck ???

At the risk of feeling like I should know, I'm going to ask anyway. Is there any other reason for the necks being extra long other than maybe trying to keep the lower portion of the bullet out of the neck-shoulder junction,do-nut area)?

Ray, I was just asking about the length of the present 6BR to see if there were any other reasons for it being noticably longer than to keep the shank/boat tail junction of the bullet out of the shoulder/neck junction of the brass. I noticed it was kind of long as opposed to some of the other small case design 6 mm. Thanks, Bill

Sorry Man. Did not mean to get you all worked up there. Sounds like you were getting pretty excited. Heck, I would be excited if I had a reg. 6BR. So, is there any other reasons that you know of for the long neck? Thanks, Bill

Hi Bill ....there is another way to look at the long neck vs. short .....you are rite...it does allow the bullet to be seated with more of it in the neck....and ....it also allows the complete spectrum of bullets to be used from long to short.,,60 gr to 107gr))..if the neck was shorter,as in the original) then it would have to be throated specifically for either long or short..,,, It makes the ctg even more versatal than before....Roger

Thanks, Roger. That is what I was looking for. I just did not know how to ask the question, I guess. CRS is tough. Bill
