Some definitive help IU do need------

I have aquired a 272 neck chambered rifle, with it some brass that has only been fired once.
The necks are not turned--would it be worth my while to turn to .012 for consistency?
What is an adequate trim length----1.553 or something else?
If you don't turn----what bushing are you using,,,,,if you do turn to .012---what bushing are you using.

I read that the majority use CCI 450 primers----I am going to start with BR-4,,,anyone using Tula or Wolf with good or better results?
My powder of choice will be VARGET, unless it does not give me the performance I expect

Thankyou one and all,

I usually turn the necks just to skim, probably taking half-a-thou off the neck.
With your .272 neck a .269 or maybe a .268 bushing would be best. Play with a couple and see what the seating tension is like. As far as trimming the case, I usually find the shortest case, take a thou off and trim the rest of the cases to match that one. My purpose here is to just square off the case. And after that, don't do anything to the inside of the case neck that might ruin what you just did. You want to keep it square. If you need to take off any rough spots inside use some steel wool. Learned that from Richard Franklin. :) Remember, it's all about concentricity. Be consistent..

What kind of die are you going to use? I've come to the conclusion that Forster and Redding do not use the same convention for bushing size. My old cardboard box brass measures about 0.269 loaded. So I want a 0.268 neck OD before loading to get 0.001" tension. To do that, I use a 0.267" Forster bushing, which lets the brass spring back to 0.268. If you use the newer blue plastic box Lapua, then you likely have to go one or two thou smaller.
