6BR in MR and LR Matches

Recently finished with my 6BR build and have shot two mid-range (600 yard) matches and I am still surprised by the accuracy of this cartridge. Today I was practicing at the gun club from the long range (1,000 yard) firing line and shot three strings in the 190's in switching winds. So I was curious to see how many of you are utilizing this cartridge for long range matches?

A 6 BR. can not keep up to the conditions at 1000yds, unless the conditions lay down and the Dashers and the BR imp's. will tear you up..... These are the brutal facts. 600 yes you will be competitive ..... jim
Well I hate to bust your bubble this relay winner was shooting a 6mmbr yesterday at hawk's ridge where a lot of people DQed all day the winner shot 3.1 for group in crappie conditions.PS the gentleman that shot this relay will finish in the top 5 for shooter of the year as a rookie congrats to him.

Not sure what discipline you’re shooting, but based on your post it sounds like you have a Prone gun or Fclass gun. The 6BR is dangerous at 600yds. Incredibly accurate, next to no recoil, and a great all around cartridge. It does give up some to the Dasher, XC, 243, etc but it can be competitive. I had one I dabbled with but shoot strictly Palma now. At 1000 I’d say the BR was inside the Palma Gun, but not near as much as something like an XC, 6.5-284, 284.

Can it win...yes. Is it ideal, we’ll that depends on your expectations of your shooting. If you want low recoil and easy to load for...there aren’t many better. The cartridge itself is capable of 200-20x if you nail the wind.

Well thats one, Stanley I stand corrected Now what was the next relay size?..... jim

^^^ not bad for a non competitive at a thousand straight six;)
I like mine

I love my BR ....

I now wait on my 6Norm Dasher .
I will shoot it in F-class .

If you look up Records Montana Dasher holds the 1000 Record .

I have shot there not that easy .

Good Luck Good Shooting

Get a 6BR or 6BRA and just have some accurate fun. I shoot at Diggle ranges in the UK and there are always switchy winds. We shot yesterday a 600yd benchrest competition and the top 2 places were all shooting 6BR or in my case a 6BRA. I think that maybe a few fellow shooters might be thinking of getting the 6BR/BRA!
Obviously, in very windy conditions at longer ranges the 6 might be outgunned, but again I have shot mine at 1000 yards in windier conditions and did pretty well with the Berger 105gr VLD. A great round in my opinion.

I am shooting f-class and had the 6BR built as my 600 yard rifle but never imagined that it would be this accurate at distance.

For F Class the Dasher and BRX have a definite advantage over the straight BR but the guy that can read wind the best almost always wins at 1K..

Here out West where it's always windy, LR is mostly won by the 284's.
